Successful Motor Test at VEM’s Factory

Representatives from Helen (Helsinki Energy) visited VEM’s factory in Wernigerode together with Jouni Hautamäki from VEM motors Finland to observe the testing of an 850 kW motor. The visit was hosted by Sven Rittweger. Test engineer Ronny Jarchow conducted the tests, confirming the motor’s performance and quality, as well as its suitability for demanding energy production applications.

Three identical 850 kW motors will be commissioned by the end of the year at the Katri Vala heat pump plant, the world’s largest facility where waste heat is used as an energy source to produce both heating and cooling. Helen’s energy production has been recognized as the most efficient in the world, and the IE4 efficiency class VEM motors contribute to the company’s goal of carbon neutrality.

Throughout the long-standing collaboration, VEM motors Finland has delivered electric motors with a total power of approximately 18 MW in voltage classes of 400 and 690 V for Helen’s various projects. We look forward to the commissioning and future projects. A big thank you to all parties involved for their expertise and excellent cooperation!
