Yaskawa receives the “MM Award” at the Automatica 2016: The energy regenerative converter U1000 was selected as winner against numerous candidates in the category „Drives & Control Technology“ during the major trade show for automation and mechatronics. Hiroshi Ogasawara (Representative Director & President Yaskawa Electric), Manfred Stern (President & CEO Yaskawa Europe) und Armin Schlenk (Director Marketing Yaskawa Europe) received the prize which was awarded by the trade magazine “MM MaschinenMarkt” from Editorial Director Frank Jablonski.

The prize winning matrix converter U1000 offers energy savings through energy regeneration and minimal losses, as well as grid and equipment-friendly operation due to extremely low harmonic distortion. In addition, the U1000 is up to 50% more compact than comparable active front-end solutions.

The jury was particularly impressed by three characteristics which were summarised by Simone Käfer who presented the prize saying “The U1000 is a benefit in terms of savings and the environment, and it does not stress the grid.”
European CEO Manfred Stern sees the general strategic direction of YASKAWA confirmed by this award: “It has always been a principle for our engineers to contribute to society and to the environment.”
