Tramec strengthens its position in industrial markets: Now owns 100% of Varmec
Expansion through Corporate Acquisitions
VEM motors Finland Oy’s gear partner, Tramec, has expanded its product range in recent years through corporate acquisitions. The most recent acquisition, Varmec s.r.l., and its CV gearboxes are already familiar to many of our gear customers.
Tramec’s Growth Story
Tramec s.r.l., located in Calderara di Reno (BO), is a company that designs, manufactures, and markets gears under the leadership of CEO Leo Girotti. Following the acquisitions of MT electric motors and Ber-Mar, Tramec has now completed its third expansion by acquiring 100% ownership of Varmec S.r.l. in Thiene (VI), where it has had a minority stake since 2000. With its current scope, Tramec Group aims for a turnover of 70 million euros.
Synergy between Ber-Mar and Varmec
Ber-Mar has been involved in the manufacture of gear and pinion gears, speed regulators, belt pulley systems, and DC brush motors since 1980. Varmec’s production is well integrated into the Tramec group’s production, allowing a new step towards its strategic development from a gear supplier to a complete and integrated market leader in power transmission and motion control.
Management’s Vision for the Future
Waldi Franzon continues to lead Varmec, supported by Leo Girotti, with the aim of ensuring continuity and integration with Tramec. “I am very pleased to confirm and strengthen Varmec’s role in the Tramec family,” says Leo Girotti. “With the acquisition of control, we plan to support the company in its future development by seeking product, commercial, and organizational synergies with the rest of the group.” Waldi Franzon adds, “I believe this is an important step for Varmec. Becoming part of a solid, important, and internationally recognized group brings new synergies that will surely boost our joint growth.”
